Wildlife Conservation

Every year a large number of wild animals including birds are hunted and killed by man either for food and raw material or for sport. Many specise of animals such as the blue whales , rhinos, polarbears dolphins turtles ,monkey and many varieties of birds are facing the danger of extinction. Wild animals such as the tiger, lion and elephant are also decreasing in numbers. These animals are  reducingin numbers because on one hand they are being killed by man and on the others ,the forests they live in are being clearedfor agriculture and development projects. Most animals are struggling to survive as their natural habitats are slowly disappearing, and they have no space to breed and roam about. The use of insecticides and pollution too have an impacton animals life. Animals on land and the sea are affected when water bodies in the forests are being polluted. When oil spills occur the sea water is polluted and many marine animals die.The World Wild Fund  is an international organisation that helps to protect wildlife and conserve areas of land and sea which have an abundance of different species of animals. Sri Lanka is country which is rich in wildlife even though  it is a small island. The Government has established many wildlife sanctuaries in the country such as Yala and Wilpattu to protect the diverse species of animals found in the country.                                                                                                               There is also an elephant orphanage at Pinnawela ,an elephant transit home at Uda Walawe and a bird sanctuary at Kumana .Wild animals are an important part of the environment and every country should take steps to conserve and protect wildlife by providing necessary facilities.

Capital Punishment

Execution of criminals and political opponents has been used by nearly all societies ,both to punish crime and to suppress political dissent. Our country Sri Lanka has been allover the world as the Daammadweepa. But during the past few decdes crimes such as murders, rapes and drug trafficking have been increased rapidly . All this time ou law has saved the lives of such criminals by giving them lie imprisonment. As those criminal enjoy life in pisonss, the criminal who move freely in the country have no any fear to do such crimes and escape death .                                                          As a result of that crimes are  soaring high and the police .the C.I.D and the court find it very  difficult to countrol the crimes. So after the assassination of the supreme judge ,late Mr Ambepitiya the president decided to impose  the death sentence to such social criminals . Had this capital punishment been imposed a few decades ago he name  Dharmadweepa    could    have been retained by us.                                                                                                                                                        In many counties that use the death penalty, drug traffickingis also a capital ofense. In China humen traficking and serious cases of corruption are punished by the the death penalty. In some countries sexual cimes such as rape ,adultery incest and sodomy, carry the death penalty as religious crimes such as apostasy in Islamic nation. If every countries carry out this law their won'tbe such crimes in our world.

The changing seasons

The environment we live in formed by many different kinds of climatic conditions. The climate of a country shows various evidence from the geographical features and the flora and fauna. The changes in the weather too depend on the climate. If the climate changes ,the environment too changes. The climate of a country is balanced by the temperature and rainfall. I temperature increases most of the organisms can not survive . If the rainfall also increases too much it cause harm to the existence of humans on the Earth. The people who live in this world must be ready to experience any climatic condition in their life time . There are mainly four types of seasons  that have been identified. They are summer ,Winter , Autumn ,and Spring .These seasons  occur as a result of the Earth's revolution. As Sri Lankans we who live in a tropical region are fortunate  to experience only the hot and  wet seasons. But in areas like the Arctic and Antarctic regions people experience only the Winter season throughout the year. Some countries expeience all seasons .                               There are many features which can be idenified in each of these seasons.Winter is the coldest season which occurs in the months of November to February . During this season the whole environment is covered with snow. It looks like a marvellous white world. Many Winter games and events are held.Summer is a season where the temperature is high ,the trees are full of fruits  the grain fields are ready for harvest and flowers are everywhere . During this season the days are longer than nights. It is the opposite of the Winter times. When Autume  arrives the environment looks like an arid zone . The trees are bare with most of the leaves fallen. Out of all four seasons spring is the most beautifull season .During this seasaon ,the trees begin to sprout and flowers also blossom. The trees have new tender leaves .The temperature rises gradually after he cold Winter. The birds sing songs and all organisms engage  in their normal day-to-day activities. Let's protect the environment and these four major seasons. These seasons are what makes our beautiful world.
